Joe Moore & Company is proud to fly the American Flag in honor of
Bill Moore
The flag was raised on the first day of April, two thousand nine.
Bill Moore was born in Portsmouth, VA. He is the uncle of Joe, Frances, and Kathy Moore. Bill was an airplane pilot for most of his life. In 1943, unable to join US military flying services because of perceived eye problems, Bill went to Canada and joined the British Royal Air Force Trans-Atlantic Ferry Command. He flew bombers and transport planes across the Atlantic, Africa, and Asia. During the Korean War, Bill was Director of Flight Operations and Chief Test Pilot for a car manufacturer in Michigan that build C-119 cargo planes to support the war effort. After the war, Bill spent several decades as a flight instructor and charter captain. In 2002, Bill and a friend successfully flew a Piper Twin Comanche around the world.
