Mary McAlister
July 13, 1923 - April 19, 2009

The flag was raised on the eighth day of May, two thousand nine.

Mary was born in Ellenboro, NC. She was the mother of Joe Moore & Co. welder Louis McAlister. She married James McAlister when she was 16. They celebrated 66 years of marriage together. They had 4 children, 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grand children. Mary was a devoted and active Christian from age 11, living her faith daily. She loved working with young people, teaching Sunday School, working in the church nursery, and as a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts. She was an avid Quilter, making over 800 quilts during her life, giving them to friends and family all across the USA. She loved teaching youth and adults to quilt, knit and sew.
